have to agree about the copying manga/hentai/anime, etc. See, I see enough room in the world for both styles. I used to enjoy western-style stuff, and Japanese stuff ( I still get creeped out by 6-year-old heads on impossibly-endowed women) which has some very good work with more adult-looking people. 

A melange of styles is probably best for any form of art. I have a weird 'law' about an art form; if you can 'define' it, it's on the way out. Mixing and matching is all well and good, but if something gets too formulaic, that's a restriction on creativity, in a way.
