Template files can go anywhere you want on your system. They're used to create new texture maps so, like I said, if you're not going to be painting new texture maps you don't need them.
The br_ files should install to the appropriate folders in Bryce. The installer may ask you where your Bryce application is loaded but it will only happen once. After that your system will tell the installer where Bryce is located.
Including an uninstaller is a personal choice. I don't, usually, but I've been using Poser since Version 3 and know how to remove items.
Everything that says Bryce 5 will work in Bryce 6. That's the nice thing about DAZ, they made certain the program is totally backwards compatible. I can even open my old Bryce 4 (.br4) scene files in it.
There is an online manual for Bryce available from the Help menu ... a lot of your information is there and, of course, we're always here to help.
