I bought it Wednesday, and used one of the "pre-fab" ready made effects  It rendered out beautifully and was simple to add to the scene.  I have Particles 2 and never knew there were tutorials for it, it was extremely simple to use.  This looks a bit more daunting, but, well worth the learning curve for an added punch to the final image.

If I can create something half way acceptable to me, I'll post it later today. :tongue2:
