I have a 2800 gig Core2Duo and it does make a big difference in rendering in most 3D programs.  It's faster in Poser provided that one doesn't crank the render settings up too high with high res images.  Setting the no of threads to 4 seemed to hurt not help, even though e-frontier recommends trying that.
