Good one! I thought that was already the formula for "reality" TV, to use people who have never been or are no longer around.
On topic:
The development of software sophistication and power has never kept up with the increasing power and capabilities of computer hardware. Mainly this is because programmers take advantage of most if not all of the extra power to decrease the time needed to write, debug, and beta test software products. The programs of yesterday bloat to fill the added memory and storage of today, while slowing and choking the more powerful processors with a glut of code, processes, and unused functions. It is like having the fastest car in the world and hitching a load to it that is so heavy that it makes the car crawl at 10 miles an hour.
