Generic names would make finding things easier. That is why people upload? So people can find their work? If you want it found, make it easier for a search to find it. Do like the porno sites used to do, include every possible search word, then every search would bring up your item. Hiding an item in a "category" may not be the category someone may think it would be in. Is a gun a prop? A poseable prop? A 3ds item? An obj? Third party? Depends on how the artist was feeling that day!
