The problem with a lot of upside-down hair solutions is that the upside-down hair model is fine for a one-image picture -- but if you are doing a series of images (as in a comic) where the character might be holding their head in all sorts of positions -- then it would be nice to have a single hair model which would work in all of those positions. And which would look consistent throughout the series. But so far, I've always found it necessary to resort to 'tricks', or to faking the natural swaying of the hair in various ways.
Some hair models are much better at the job than others. But I've yet to find one that works out-of-the-box -- for normal, non-fantasy hairstyles. The type of hair that you'd see at the office or in a grocery store.
I'll take a look at that ilona set. It might be especially useful for distance renders. Close-ups might be a problem, though -- due to the fact that I'd be using a hair prop or figure in the "non-hanging-hair" scenes -- and I'd need to match the style/color for the hanging hair.
That freebie troll hair would have its uses, too. I'll have to download it. The hair reminds me of an older freebie that I've got in my runtime called "Magic Hair" -- and that one is sometimes useful, too -- although I have no idea who made it way back in the day.
