Quote - If you want us to spend the time to clone out the reflections it might just raise the prices on some texture packages because we don't work for free. We all try to make the best products we can at the most reasonable price but our time is worth something, isn't it? If I spent 40 + hours cloning out reflections in eye textures I sure hope I'd be paid something for that work, on top of all the hours spent creating skin textures, makeup textures, second skins, testing everything ... it's only fair, don't you think?
Being a merchant myself - I am well aware of what you are saying as to time and effort - but remember - no one sets the prices for your creations but yourself - ie: you may charge what you wish, whether people will buy your products at that price is something that is beyond your control - however from what I have seen, people will pay that extra dollar for quality work and then there is the point of setting the standard for others to work to.
If you just maybe put in that little extra effort on things such as eyes people WILL notice it and be prepared to pay that little extra - then it will flow on down the line and others will try to keep pace.
But if everyone sat around saying "it's too hard to clone out this and that" we wouldn't have seen the advances in quality over the years.
I will also add that this is not a personal attack on you - just my general opinion on how design of textures etc gets influenced.
I'll also add that I am not a real fan of textures cloned from photos as photos always seem to have little highlights or shadows that just wouldn't be there if you were to remove the skin and stretch it out - by this I am talking about texture maps that actually have the breasts defined and shadows in the naval - it goes on and on - and it's these little things that stick out under good lighting.
I'm actually on the lookout for some good hand painted textures that showcase the artist's ability to improvise and create something natural looking.
Given the technology of the time there was some really great textures for the Poser 3 folk - and all of them with a photo in sight....
