digicalermo's wild hair (and wild hair male) has been  perfect in every single  position and length i've put it in.  that said,  long, straight (or at least non-curly) hair has to be the easiest thing to paint.  i've never had a problem getting good results from painted hair.  personally, 2d hair kits have always been too limiting light wise for me, but they work well for many people.
