My (very limited) experience with Bryce is that I have to reapply all materials to an imported .OBJ. Texture maps might come in right, if they're copied to the same folder as the .OBJ. Transmaps don't come in right, every transmap had to be reapplied in Bryce. It might have to do with the limits of the .OBJ format (or just that Poser does not export the full .mtl info).
Anyway, importing a .pz3 into Vue means all texture maps, bump maps and transmaps come in correctly. Displacement maps are translated to bump. You still have to do some material correction, reflections for example don't come in as they should, and highlight color, size and strengths must be adjusted too. But at least you don't have to hunt down each and every single texture/bump/transparency map - a regular pain in the butt when you're into multiple character scenes.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
