Max_the_Dog - Don't worry about it, when being a newbie to Poser there is so much to learn. I've been using Poser for over a year now & there's still loads I should know by now!!
Regarding hair & the preview window, sometimes you can go into the material room & turn the transparency all the way down & then back up again & then the texture may show in the preview. It doesn't seem to work all the time though. Hope this helps.
