Almost... you forgot one last step - w/o any further arguments for or against, here's the concept: In Open Source, the freedoms you mentioned would apply, but the derivative would have to be given away or sold under the exact same conditions as it was received. Something like this... If AM were open-source, you could: 1) take bits or all of it and put it into your product, for sale or for free, BUT... 2) ...the derivative you made and distributed [i]must[/i] be allowed to have the same thing done to it that you did to AM (that is, someone else can take your "product" and then put bits of it into [i]their[/i] products, and so on). Does this mean that Anton somehow loses control of it? Nope. People making items for it would (for obvious compatibility reasons) stick w/ a single predictable configuration... AKA the "official" version. That alone would ensure control of it, and would at the same time allow improvements made to it by others to be incorporated if those improvements were indeed worthwhile. > Quote - Anton is giving Apollo the character away for free -- not the technology behind Apollo :)
