Sounds like the same problem as I had with Vue 6 Infinite or at least a very similar one.  I sent the file into e-on for them to look at.  In my case it turned out that the object I was trying to import contained some bad mapping data that crashed vue's importer.  E-on fixed the problem I was running into in the V6I final release. The object imports and don't crash Vue.  If it is the same problem hopefully you'll find it fixed in the next release of Vue 6 and you'll be able to import objects without any problems.

In case it's not the same issue though you may want to report it to e-on's tech support and supply the models that cause the crash if they ask for them too.

Remaping the figure in UV mapper, loading and saving it from Cinema 4d or various other modellers fixed the bad data and allowed it to be read by Vue.  I tried the bad model in several other packages and in each case it either crashed them or the UV map was way off so the issue really sat with bad UV mapping data from the modelling package.  All of the ones that would load it displayed the bad mapping the same (skewed by 45 degrees from where it should have been).
