Subject: Disabled Comments

I'm not sure if i have disabled comments in the past - but i know i have thought about it, and the main reason for that was that most of the comments you tend to receive are of the "oo that's nice" variety... whilst it is nice to know someone appreciates your work, on the other hand i could show the same photo to friend or family and they would say the same - it is just an ego rub in my book.  My main reason for posting on here is to get some sort of feedback about the shot in a photographic/artistic sense.  That was one of the driving forces behind my suggestion for the constructive critique thread, because not enough (imo) is being given in the galleries.

that is what goes through my mind when i consider not letting people comment, but on the other hand you do get the odd honest reply to a shot which outweighs all the other standard replies of admiration because then you learn. So in my reasoning i allow comments on the off chance someone will say something which will make me think.

As for those who do disable comments, i think they have the right to if they feel they dont have the time to, or cant, give any back... a community spirit kind of thing.
