This is the other reason, beside cpu and memory-saving and variation, that I made different fur-versions from Chimpy: I wanted to use dynamic clothing on him and add later only the fur most needed. To show you I used the suit from James.

The Suit was conforming, so I scaled it around Chimpy (without hair) first and took care of not touching him somewhere around his body. Then I exported the suit with "seams welded" to make the suit to 1 prop and imported it again. Then I clothified the suit and with "constrained vertices" I took care of it that the buttons stayed in place. The pose was set on frame 15 and after calculating the dynamics I replaced Chimpy without fur by Chimpy with little fur and deleted the hair that poked through the suit.
