I hate to disappoint you, but the current BSG is slated only for 5 seasons max, with talk that season 4 will be it's last. I agree that there is enough storyline for years, and this is where the spinoffs are coming in. 

Caprica will be a prequile spinoff based on the early development of the cylons, how they become aware and how the Adama family ties into it all. 

I also wouldn't be surprised if a sequeal spinoff happens as well. But they do have to end the series so they can end the contracts of the stars. If they start a new series with the same stars then some contract timers reset. Eventally it becomes too expensive to pay the actors. Part of the reality of SG1 is that even with revenue coming in from action figures, video games, endorsments etc, they will start loosing money on the actor's saleries alone

Quote - Find Earth - It'd be way too big a budget, but what a story that would be.  First contact, fighting together against Cylons, the Earth politics involved, the embrace of the BSG technology.  Cool stuff.
