Quote - Or perhaps I'm not to only person on the planet that thinks she's attractive.

What that has to do with anything, I don't know.  She's got a camel face, and I don't doubt the majority agrees, or at least with the obvious fact that she's very low on the Hollywood looks totem pole.  In terms of the roles she's getting, she's right there on the bottom rung.  Whether or not some people consider her attractive doesn't change that.

Quote - It never fails to amaze me how taken people are by the obvious. Subtle elegance, subtle handsomeness, subtle beauty ... these are the true flavours of life. I'm sick of the same boring actors/actresses (no political correctness for me!), doing the same boring roles, smiling their same perfectly straight toothed smiles, wearing the same designer named outfits. It's boring. Substance and subtleness are sooo much more interesting.

If you mean to say you don't like the fact that beauty sells, and Hollywood acts accordingly, and you don't like this - okay.  :)

Quote - I'd much rather watch something with someone like Claudia Black in it than some regurgitated piece of fluff with the 'actor/actress of the day' in it.

You're creating a false dilemma, where one must choose between ugly, talented actors performing good scripts, or attractive, untalented actors performing crappy scripts, where no such dilemma exists.

Quote - If you look at her career it's pretty obvious what happened: she did minor roles in TV and TV movies like many other actors who never do anything otherwise, did one notable show (Hercules, in this case) that made her known for a specific genre, added some more roles that gave her notability in that genre, and since  Pitch Black and has done nothing outside science fiction/fantasy.  She's an actress who's proven able to do action-oriented SF/F roles, she's actually a good actress (she's had good reviews for her Shakespeare work on stage) so of course she's on the short list when such a role comes up.  No casting couch required.

Sorry, this doesn't make sense to me.  There are many more qualified actors she leap-frogged over, and I just wonder why.  My explanation makes more sense to me.
