This part I understand.. "When I go to open the pic I did I can see it on screen, BUT not on little screen on top.." Make sure you have the "Auto-Update" option checked in the preview (little screen on top) window pull-down menu. Make sure any objects you create are not "hidden" in the object attributes menu.
