Subject: Dont Buy Vue 6

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

Apart from my earlier post do not buy vue 6 as not only is the forum still blocked from people posting, but they have realesed another patch to fix fact the 6 would not import from poser corectly.
Now i will try this patch as it supposed be from poser people but why i say not buy vue 6 is.
It will not allow you render large poser scenes as i have gone through every bloody permutation with other programs, to bring a 56,000 polygon character in at 20,000 polygons dont work.
If you render small poser scenes then yes i superb but it a bloody crap ass piece of shody rubish.
God no's how long they will be fixing bug's and the other basterd bloody bitch whore thing that made me basterd angry with them, was they advatised vue 6 esprite full 200 bucks and update 99 bucks as i have 5 esprite boxed.
These would be with manuals and like other people i recieved a newsletter saying we will give you 20 bucks off if you download and use it and help test it.
Great did that and reported bugs and when i get email download the full realese version thought great, but oh no i should have bloody waited and bought the bloody update with manual.
I have to pay 25 basterd bloody squid if i wana get book, it has been nothing but bloody shody work by e-on, no wounder they stoped people writing to message board, so for big scenes use other programs and give vue 6 a miss untill either the programers of poser and vue.
Leave the bloody homer simpson school of programing or if it still to advanced for thier poor bloody brains give it to programers from other countrie's to fix.
Jesus bloody mary 24 years ago american comercial programers had worse reputation in world for programing pc they still have, though stupid thing is thier are american programers who wrewrite games the european way and do bloody brill work  with compression.
Easy get rid of the useles bloody comercial american programers and give the job to independant american pc programers, who run bloody circles around thier comercial counterpart's.
Those independant american programers would do a bloody superior job fixing the bloody sodden bugs, and send the comercial programers to the bart simson kindergaren school.

For non poser work it is bloody brill, but for 3 poser figures or less, with vue terrain superb when it dont crash but fo 4 bloody figures and terain crash.
I put 10 poser fiures and terrain into carerra 5 pro and render to do same in vue 6 you would need 100000mhz prosseosor and at least 600mg bloody memory, vue 6 was advatised as render your poser scenes in it when they no.
That poser 6 and 7 could render a made scene that makes vue crash.

well, as is usually the case with new software version releases, there a re major bugs that future service releases will inevitably fix.
Remember for the first year or so Poser 5 was useless crap, and didn't beome usable (IMO) until SR3. so rather than say "don't buy Vue 6 at all, it would make more sense to say don't buy it yet till they come up with a fix for whatever bugs are stopping you from upgrading.

My vue 5 infinite was free  ( a special deal Lightwave offered a year or so ago).

Seriously, tho, I will hold out on upgrading at least until they fix the Poser import bug.

If you would have taken the time to read up on E-Onsoftware, you could have known that they are notorious for releasing buggy software and never even fix it in the current version, only in the version to come. A good number of Vue 5's bugs have been fixed in Vue 6 and so it will be with Vue 6. It has been like that since Vue 3, bug fixes only in the new version.

I think it's a strange habit and they're more or less forcing a customer to buy the next version. Perhaps this habit will change overtime. E-On used to have some other strange habits like charging non us-citizens more for their applications and charging non-exsisting taxes. Reason for me (and many others) to not buy any new version until resolved. Recently E-On changed the habit and we can buy without the fear of being ripped off. So perhaps the bug practise will change in time to come also?

As for your problem with Poser figures in Vue, perhaps the newest update will solve some of the issues? It sure works way better now for me now.

e-on Europe is in France, e-on US is in Oregon, not too far from where my brother lives in Beaverton.

And FWIW, my Vue 6 Esprit is wonderful!  The only major problem I had turned out to be a faulty heat sink and I would never have found it were it not for John Carver over at e-on tech support who spent many hours with me trying to find out why my Vue wouldn't render anything other than in Preview mode.  Many thanks, John, and Kudos to the entire e-on tech support team for all their help with this.

I agree with Chris (BAR-CODE) that the language is totally inappropriate.  If you have an issue with the program, okay, but you don't need to go postal and use the profanity.  We get the point.

I agree there are problems where the Poser import is concerned, mainly with leaking memory. I purge my memory on a regular basis to keep things going. This really shouldn't be the case but I'll live with it for now. Hopefully when I install the latest update things will improve. I have yet to produce a really large scene, I can imagine pulling my hair out if this causes a problem!

jugoth ( ) posted Fri, 13 April 2007 at 10:23 AM

Profanity you should here our 3 and 4 year old children in england, you would join a monastary or a nunnery, they can come out with words 10 times worse than i could.
I afarid im 1 of those people with a low tolerence of people who dont do jobs properly, in the jobs i have had to do you had to bloody well make sure the job was done right.
Not like today with the bloody nampy pamby coseted workers who cry over any little slight, ah for the good old days of pride in ya work ya now what most of the programers and magangers of these companies now wuld be kicked out door by thier ass.
Last sept when i was in states was talking to an old yank war veteran and he agreed with me that today in america like in united kingdom you get people who to lazy work or if they do, wont do jobs properly.
He said when he was 16 he took it easy on farm had a skive like they do now but his father found him skulking and beat him hard, he lived from that day with his fathers words.
Love of country, love of work, love of family, and when you become a man stay a man, and when you given a job do the job right, faulty work cost's lives.

Victoria_Lee ( ) posted Fri, 13 April 2007 at 10:26 AM

I'm rendering a scene right now using the external render engine.  It runs in the background on low priority so it takes a lot longer to render complex scenes but that's okay with me.  The one I'm doing now is 1280 x 1024 using a Volumetric Atmosphere, Global Radiosity and a lot of complex materials along with a complex ecosystem with custom User Settings and a lot of Quality Boost in certain areas.

This is the scene that wouldn't render before John at e-on tech support identified my problem with my heat sink.  Now that this is fixed the render is just chugging along and I'll post it when it's done.

interestingly, the word "profanity' originally referred only to misuse of God's name and other religion-related words, etc (the literal meaning is "misuse of something holy). i.e, saying things liek "for god's sake, etc
also in those days, "cursing" meant just that, calling down curses on people.  (saying things like God d***)
Swearing meand saying things like  " so help me god, or by god, etc.
"dirty words" meant things like the f-word, etc
and "bad words" meant simpley any other offensive words.

excuse the digression (and possible hijacking of the thread) but I'm a linguist, it's in my blood to do things like this.

I'm not saying the program is perfect, jugoth.  Obviously, from the number of posts about problems, it's not.  I'm just saying that using bad words is not appropriate for this arena as there are many children who browse through here or who are looking as their parents read the forums.

In many ways I agree with you.  I started work when I was 13 (and if you don't know, I'm the Grandmother of 9 now so I'm definitely not a kid) and I've worked most of my life, except for the time I took to have my kids.  I take pride in doing my job well and I'm always trying to learn new things that will help me improve, both in my RL job and in my creations for Poser.

My son is a programmer/IT Tech and we both know the value of good debugging.  When he writes a program he always gives it to me to break because I wrote a program a while ago in computer school to log keystrokes when I'm testing a program.  That way we always know what I did to break the program.

I have to say this about the programmers at e-on.  There is no way possible that they could ever, conceivably, duplicate the way the end users use (or abuse?) the program.  Everyone does things differently.  This is why it took so long for John and I to discover what was going on with my Vue 6.  The fact is that bugs will always pop up because of the many different configurations of hardware/software.  All we can really hope for is that the program is relatively stable and that, as bugs are reported, service releases to address them are released.  If you ever begin programming you'll understand the complexity of the issues, especially if you write modular programs.

if it's an american software, it's likely that most of the coding was outsourced to mumbai or shanghai, and that the only american involvement is product management. hence one should give credit where credit is due. I ain't a lawyer, but as I understand it, opinions about software, however negative, are not considered libellous, as long as it's plain to the average jury that it's just an opinion, and not a deliberate misrepresentation.

EON - US office is only for distribution here in the US - they do take some phone calls regarding ordering issues - but programmers reside in France - the "heart" of the operation.

I know the one guy that works there(have spoken on the phone with him as of late last year)  According to him there is only 1 person manning the small space.  They could have hired a few more to help during a rush - but it is only distribution.  He mails the packages/programs out of that location nothing more.

iloco ( ) posted Fri, 13 April 2007 at 12:28 PM

Victoria Lee you need to have your bro check out e0on in beaverton  I know for a fact it is only one person in Beaverton who handles the distrubution of Vue from e-on.   Either he told me a lie which I highly doubt or they have hired a few since last talked with him. :)

I will not mention any names because I don't think its appropriate to do so in a plubic forum. :)

That bugger would not render in V5i...but a breeze in vue6i.

Like I said in the other thread...I've been working on a poser/vue project for my sister...

It renders well :)  too bad I'm not near example (don't have any online yet).

FWIW, and all profanity issues aside, Poser 6 get awfully snippy about complex scenes, too, in my experience. The scene I posted a bit back (Egyptian Market) was incredibly unstable by the time I tried to render it. It had the 4 human figures, the camel, and a pretty complex set of props. I had that scene crash about 4 times when I shifted into the materials room to adjust something (though granted, when I finally hit render, it did chug it out, over night). I haven't tried anything that complex yet in Vue, but I can say the Beta Patch does definitely help substanially in Poser Imports. The preview is a bit wonky, but I can live with it for now.

i downloaded me vue 6 updated patch to try, import some poser stuff without bit's missing, now my system using AMD 64 4200, 1GB 3200 MEMORY, 256MG GDR3 WIN XP 32 BIT.
Now it still has same probs with polygons but if i cheat and load a character in that takes up 55% system resorces i can duplicate it quite a few times.
That's not the point as the point is if i can load 5 various figures in poser 7 and 6, and into cararra and render, but vue 6 will crash as 5 figures will take it to - 30+ system resorces.
That's the point the point is vue 6 was tabled as render poser scene you bring in, it should have stated no as we go by polygons you can only bring small scene in.
The program does not do what it is billed to do, and if i load a hopolite takes up 20% system resorces and clone it 5 times take not much memory up.
As i say thats not the point if i do a scene in poser and then bring into vue it should bring whole lot in without crash.
Im hopping carrera 6 will have lots of vue abilities so i can do large naval scene and bypass vue completely AND remember lots of swear words meant something diff in old saxon and old german, and     niggardly   is n old 13th century scandanavian word and it dont mean black people.

A high school teacher in my town actually got fired recently for sayign the word 'niggardly'.
( someone thought he said the "other" word and complained). They knew what he really said but fired him anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Daz bought out carrera completely, and since they bought it, there hasn't been even a word about a new version.

I think the only worthwhile choices now are Vue6 and the latest DS/Bryce combo

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
