Keenart, I would be interested to hear if you get any other advice regarding the patch with the retail version. I specifically wanted the boxed version, even with the added expense of postage, because I don't have the capability for really big downloads.

I too installed the patch for my Vue Pro Studio and it - well, just ceased to exist, really.  After installing the patch, I click on the Vue shortcut to start the program and Vista helpfully informed me that Vue had stopped working. That was it, end of story...

I re-installed and it is sort-of okay (although not very stable with the nVidia 158 drivers - the Main Camera screen does not update unless I click on it; Vue also crashes - usually before it finishes opening).

So, I have decided to leave Vue alone for a while - too frustrating and upsetting otherwise...
