Just as a question.. but to all those who complain about having to check 'yet another' forum now... what's wrong with subscribing to the fora you're interested in? I check several fora on an ad oc basis, but I've subscribed to two - Poser and now the freebie forum. Any time someone starts a new forum topic or thread, I get a notification, and can choose to click the link to read it or simply delete it. Yes, this means I get a LOT of emails every day from the Poser Forum, but (for the moment at least), the number of threads started in the freebie forum are a drop in the ocean by comparison. At most, they add another minute or two to my email clearing each day - hardly a life-changing experience.
Freebie makers - is it really that much hassle to write two posts when you set up a freebie (one in the freebie forum, and one in the topic forum of choice)? Many of you are regular posters anyway, and chime in on topics frequently throughout the day - again, does a couple of extra miutes really tax matters so muxh? It's not like there's a limit to the number of posts oyu can make a day, and this is eating up your quota.
The only thing that seems to have changed on thi matter for me is that the initial announcement about any freebies offered by people is done in th new forum, instead of scattered throughout the board. Other people can still link to the freebies whenever they wish (either to the download link or the freebie forum thread), and if anyone is looking for something specific, then there's nothing stopping people from helping them exactly as they do now.
In fact, thinking about it, my time reading posts is probably not going to change that dramatically at all - because all the freebie announcements which were here have gone, to be replaced by the ones in the new forum. Same number of posts, only the location has changed. So where's the fuss?
jjroland - a compromise HAS been made... intially, the ruliung at the freebie forum was that only freebies which were in the renderosity freestuff area could be announced in that forum, and all other linking was prohibited on the part of third parties. There was also some confusion as to whether someone requesting help in finding a freebie could still be helped under this system. Now, we have a forum where all freebies can be annouced, regardless of their place of origin, and all other manner of things have been clarified as well. How is this not a compromise?
