Interesting to note that 'gyp' is percived as insulting in the US - in the UK that word means something causing annoyance or  discomfort:  Examples: 'that kid gave me some gyp' or 'my arm is giving me gyp'.

When we use that word with an O - 'gypo' that means gypsy not 'jew'. Though the PC police don't allow that or other terms such as 'pikey' or 'tinker' to be used - we have to use terms like 'travelling community'. 

This is the same kind of PC nonense that means you can't use words like 'brainstorm' in case you upset epilectics!
