Subject: Can I render a wireframe in Vue?

LMcLean ( ) posted Mon, 30 April 2007 at 12:29 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 10:58 PM

Just wonderin if it's possible to render the wireframe of my model in Vue. Thanks

Unfortunatley the answer is no. Not possible.

What you can try out is to use some grid as transparency map to get the impression of a wireframe. Or even a screenshot from UV Mapper for example as well as trans map of your object you want to render.

May be for Win users:   open your scene with Vue in wireframe display mode  (not OpenGL) toggle in single view, (not 3  sides views) and use a CTRL+PRTSCR or ALT+PRTSCR. Then paste the result in your favorite 2D soft ....

Wabe, Thanks. I didn't think so, but I guess I can take a screenshot using "Grab". pmerino, thanks. That's a good tip for windows users.

I did a quick and very dirty test - in my eyes it is possible.

I took an object into UVMapper, made a screenshot of the image there and used this screenshot for transparency in Vue.

I should of course make the contrast stronger for the trans map in Photoshop and maybe the lines thicker. But that is tweaking, the principle works (in my eyes).

The screenshot thing you of course can do on Mac too - cmd-shift-3 is the command for screenshot. Or cmd-shift-4 when you want to define the area you want to get.

As this is already the second one i hear asking about wireframe rendering i made a basic shot of vue wirreframe rendering.

A pyramid, sphere and cube. In the background you can see a wine glas made from boolean differences.

wireframe

I dont think this is of any use. Maybe ask e-on tech support for a wireframe option that renders the scene without lighting/Athmospheres/textures and with a grid over every object? I guess this is what you are looking for?

I tought that in Vue 6 Xstream there is an option above preview.. that only render what you see
in the program itself.. i had made a sample movie of it sometimes..

is that what you mean heagerst?

LMcLean, maybe this is what you want, if you set your settings to wireframe mode and then make a 'standard' render (above the preview)
