Thanks K. Actually I have no books, accept a very old one from 1984 when I started doing graphcis programming. I haven't bought any since - I learn a lot from reading forums and watching what other people do.

For your amusement, here's a procedural brute; 283 nodes to make a Glenn plaid that is not exactly the same anywhere! I love giant procedural shaders. No images, no memory problems, and no annoying visible repetition from a tiled texture. You can load a hundred of these into Poser.

You can also tell, from the zoomed in views, that there's no way you could get that kind of detail from an image. It would have to be over 20,000 pixels wide to render so clean up close.


Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
