I see your point completely.  Well, even I can do that - and do in my plugin.  So, I'll need to dust off that rudimentary shader tree system of mine and start figuring out the node algorithms (mathematics) and how then to apply that through the C4D Material for the texturing process (render).  Another C4D plugin developer has achieved something similar (not for Poser in anyway), but it is an in-house product and thus proprietary (no code to be offered on their C4D shader tree system).

Mathematics and code for some node types is provided in the aforementioned textbook, but is woefully incomplete (see Amazon for comments).  Could you provide some good links or resources (texts, papers - IEEE and ACM are accessible here), please?

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.
