Hmmm... looking over what you said.... I recall that XP comes with it's own fonts..... technically these are some of the same ones that you have with Photoshop...... XP may have overwritten them with it's own version. if you look in Adobe>Photoshop>Fonts... in whatever directory you have it installed at, are those fonts listed? Lou.
"..... and that was when things got interestiing."
sorry for the delay, I had my computer repair a glitch.
I installed Illustrator, and Photoshop and all things on the Setup CD into the regular set up.
My problems came when I had to buy a new computer. It came with a bunch of other programs with it. One of them was Microsoft Power Point. I did some artwork and sent it to a client. They then put the art into power point and did the typesetting. I also did the type setting to give them a guide on how to lay out the page.
The Problem all started and never cleared up when I took a look at the typefaces that were in Power Point. They had some neet Typefaces that I liked, but I liked Adobes faces better.
When I opened Illustrator after that, first it only showed the Poser Point typefaces, not my Adobe Typefaces. I deleted The Power Point program, because I would never use it.
That didn't do anything I still have those faces. Now I don't even have those faces. I have the ugliest typefaces there is. I have about 4 typefaces that are good for headlines, where as I had a lot of beautiful typefaces before.
I looked into my - Adobe/Adobe Type Manager,- and I checked my PSfonts folder and there is nothing in there. I never removed them after I reinstalled All My Illustrator, and Photoshop programs. When I load all my fonts with a regluar setup they should all go into their folders, they had in the past, but they don't do that anymore. I have never been able to comeup with the answer.
I am going to get more ram soon, but that can't be the problem with the fonts.
Thanks for the input, That is where I am right now.

This is a question that covers a lot of areas, 1st I have adobe Illustrator 9, and Photoshop6. I plan on upgrading to the new CS series. My Problem lies in that I had bought these durring the Windows 95 and 98 era. I now have Windows XP.
What has happened is all my Beautiful fonts are replaced with ugly faces. I no longer have the adobe type faces that came with adobe Products. I don't know why that happened.
The next step I was going to do was download the Demo adobe Illustrator CS3. Biggest reason is to see if my typeface problems are to do with the older adobe Product and upgraded Windows XP.
The next problem I ran into is, in downloading Adobe Illustrator CS3. You have to have 512 MB of ram. I have 512 of ram. I had my computer worked on and got a new hard drive. And it use to show that it had 512 MB of Ram. The trial version won't let me run unless it shows 512 if ran, When I looked up to check out the Computers Ram again to see what it was reading, it read 448 MB of Ram.
My question is Do you loose ram within your computer, or did someone switch a ram chip durring the Hard Drive repair. With out The computer reading 512 MB of ram, I can't tryout the Adobe Demos to find out what is happening with my Type faces. I seached Adobe/Adobe Type Manager, and I couldn't find it. that is where the typefaces are stored as I read. Obvious I have it somewhere or I wouldn't be able to work with Illustrators typefaces at all.
