Quote - Rendo has more forums than just poser. to list a few, there's Photoshop, 3D Max, Lightwave, Bryce, Vue..
True, but Poser is still the bread and butter of Renderosity and its forums. If you go to the main forum page, there are stats for every forum. Poser accounts for 47% of all threads in the Software category and 51% of all the posts. If Topics and Administration are added in, Poser accounts for 34% of the threads and 38% of the posts. Apply those percentages against 2579 artists online now and CP only has about 4% of the audience that the Poser forum in Renderosity has. That's without taking into account that CP has forums for Shade, Manga and Anime studios, and other foreign language forums. The actual percentage of Poser users participating at CP versus here would actually be about 2% based on 12 users looking in Poser forums out of 23 users in the forums when I looked just now.
These are just statistics. Renderosity has been around much longer, so it's going to have more active members. E-Frontier is the first Poser-owning company to even make an effort to court an online community and their nice weekly free figure models represent one way to get the community to take a look. DAZ started their forum in October 2003 and have a significantly more active community forum than CP. E-Frontier acquired Poser in 2003, but it appears that ContentParadise didn't exist as a community/storefront till around March 2005 because that's when I downloaded the first freebie, a bee figure.
I'd imagine that there are other forums, that don't have the backing of the company that owns Poser, that are more active than CP with more than a couple dozen users reading the forum at one time. Their record, after two years of existence is only a dozen more. I just looked at PhilC's forum and his record is 67 at one time. The max for Faerywylde is 48. The latter two forums only have a handful of users currently looking at them, so CP's Poser forums are twice as busy at this point in time.
