@ Conniekat8  What would you suggest as the best source for absolute beginners tutorials to get started with Hexagon?  Like you, I downloaded it long ago, but unlike you I still haven't gotten into it.

For absolute beginners... hmmmm...
the video tutorials that came with Hexagon are great for finding where and how certain things in hexagon work, for example how to add or delete a line or a face, what steps to go through to extrude or edge loop. I found those a lot more helpful then the manual itself.

The first part of the battle, IMO, is knowing what tool to use where. That comes from scouring tutorial and videos on subdivision modelling. My personal favorites are video tutorials available on Zbrush Central: http://206.145.80.239/zbc/index.php
Another place I go to for a lot of tutorials (besides this place) is 3D Total http://www.3dtotal.com/.  There seems to be quite a few subdivisiom modeling tutorials around!
Places like: http://www.subdivisionmodeling.com/forums/index.php   and  http://www.polyloop.net/

Learning the terminology is also a good part of the battle for an 'absolute beginner'

I hope that helps a little bit... You asked me a pretty broad question there ;)
