Dolly ... assuming it's cool with Verdie that we go with the Crystal Ball (or something similar), you know what might work for the card backs? Instead of making the crytal ball circular, we can make it more elliptical, and scale it so that it fills a little bit more of the center of the card. The character or scene can then be superimposed within that crystal ball area (might be kind of cool .... comments?) Now, perhaps then you can add a slight border around the solid purple area (blacks, golds, silvers, etc) - either a generic one, or one for each culture (Egyptian, Roman, Greek and Pagan?)
