I don't think so, but could you possibly try to add a layer mask to a layer called 'Background'? It is not a seperate plugin or something, it is an essential part of how Photoshop works. Making a mask is actually adding an extra channel to your r, g and b. Does that work, in the channel tab? In that case I can thing about a workaround, but firstly the double clicking on the layer (to create 'Layer 0') would have to be ruled out. Let me know! Hoof
