infinity10 ( ) posted Mon, 25 June 2007 at 5:22 AM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 5:19 AM

I am getting this error upon launching Poser 7 SR2.

If there a cure for this, please ?

Delete all the poser pref files!  The damned thing did the identical to me last week! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGG!

My Computer>C drive>Documents and Settings>Administrator>Application Data>Poser 7

I deleted EVERYTHING in that folder, and it works like a charm now! REMEMBER--it'll default to start to factory state, but it'll start!

Oh, well - there ain't any XML files under that type of folder for me now, and the dang thing still complains.

But many thanks for the information.

I've seen the apollo fix recommended and I just wondered do you have all the faces defined now?

I mean, you install, say Miki 2's faceroom installer, poser goes all wonky. You replace the knownfaceroommodules.xml with apollo's... do you have the information to use Miki 2?

I only have the Apollo XML, while the default XML file has been deactivated.
My particular situation is probably because I did not install the Poser 5 people ( guessing here ??).

kalon,

If you have a knownFaceRoomHeads.xml file that is working for you and it contains all the figures you need, make a copy of that file so you can replace it after installing any future Poser SRs that might corrupt the existing one.

Fortunately, when I installed the SR2, it didn't corrupt the existing one this time so Miki2 is included in my current one.

For some reason whenever I install any FaceRoom installers, my knownFaceRoomHeads.xml file gets corrupted and only contains one line of code ???? This has also happened to some other people as well.

If you encounter XML errrors on launch, please zip up your knownFaceRoomHeads.xml and contact e frontier tech support (http://www.e-frontier.com/go/emailtech). Some SR2 fixes rely on a properly updated version of that file. We did extensive testing to ensure that the update process goes smooth, but apparently there are cases where it still can fail. We would like to find out what the source of the problem is and fix it.

Thanks,
Uli

P.S.: We looked at the file that gets distributed with Apollo's Face room module. There are some inconsistencies in that file that might throw off add-on installers (like Miki2 or the G2 males). SR2 itself should not have problems with these inconsistencies. However, if you installed one of e frontier's Face room add-ons after dropping in Apollo's file, please mention that to tech support. Lastly, the Apollo file should not be needed for Poser 7. The Poser 7 version of knownFaceRoomHeads.xml contains all necessary information already.

I opened the knownfaceroomheads.xml in notepad, scrolled downto the bottom where I found that the G2 figures were appended after this tag:

Cut it, paste it at the very end ot the page, and Poser now runs fine.  Thanks for everyone's help.
