The magnet kits by Netherworks also work on a Mac. Actually, they work better than The Tailor (which I also have).
What I do to create matching morphs in clothes is the following:
I start out by loading the appropriate Netherworks magnet set
I tweak the magnets until the clothes fit the character well
Optionally, I add extra magnets for fine control
Then I use the Python script supplied by Netherworks to create the morph and remove the magnets.
Repeat for all applicable morphs.
It's slow going, certainly not as fast as The Tailor, but the quality of the resulting morphs is much better.
Why do the poses sometimes work? The poses not only inject the morph deltas, they also set the morph dial values. The delta injection will fail on the clothes, since the number of vertices doesn't match, but setting the dial values WILL work - if those dials are present in the clothes.
