Subject: Import of Poser scenes with dynamic clothes in other poser scenes - P7 SR2

Hello everybody,

I need your help. Here is the issue.

I pose a figure, open the clothes room and calculate a simulation with dynamic clothes. Until here it works fine.

Then I save and close this file and open a new file. Now I want to import the previous file with the dynamic clothing into the new file.

And now -as you can imagine- it does not work. The file is imported but the calculation of the dynamic clothes has been completely forgotten.

By the way it works in P6 and in P7 before the SR2.

Does anybody experience the same or has any idea of a workaround?

Thanks in advance

Yes. As far as I know only the pz3 -- scene file -- format will save the complete simulation. What is working pretty well for me is as follows; Run the cloth simulation. Scroll timeline up to that moment that looks best. Export wavefront object for that frame, exporting just the cloth object. Roll the timeline back to zero, delete the original cloth, import the new cloth object. You now have a figure on Frame One, with draped clothing, that can be saved to the library. In addition, the cloth groups and settings are also saved within that cloth object, so the next time you run a simulation you won't be starting from scratch.

Thank you nomuse,

I saved my work as a scene file. It saves as *.pz3 and also the *.pmd and the *.dyn files are saved.
Then I tried to import this file into another scene. That worked perfectly well before I installed SR2 and it works still in P6.

Following your workaround I still have a problem. How can I set the timeline to zero without loosing the pose of my character?

Edit the timeline. Click the "key" to go to editor, collapse the figure group, select the keyframe made at the final pose and drag it back to Frame 0.

Thank you nomuse.

I must admit your workaround is a bit too complex for me. I switched back to SR 1.1. I just installed the SR1.1 pack again and the Import-function is working as expected. Until know (just a few hours of testing) there seems to be no instability. I'll let you know if I experience problems.
Thank you again for your quick response.
