Subject: Do have one concern..

Belladzines ( ) posted Tue, 17 July 2007 at 10:53 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 3:06 PM

whilst i love the new look, layout, morphed whatevers..... i am concerned about the use of MP products on the front page - where some half nudity happens - bikini clad gals etc..... shouldnt it be safe for children to visit the front page of Renderosity without fear of being confronted by these things?

what does everyone think?  or am i just over thinking it?

Actually I agree.

I think there is enough exposure in the front page of the Marketplace.

To me it also, devalues the site as a 'artistic community' & shows that the main focus is just selling products.

The best & most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen nor touched... but felt in the heart.

I think along those lines as well. I believe a more professional and artistic approach to the front page would be appropriate. If there HAS to be more ads, why not put some on the right side of the gallery pages under the RSS feeds icon?

There is no nudity in the initial  MP images or the banners, and with Renderosity's rules about nudity you see more skin on a beach than you do in the banners and initial images in the MP.  So I don't see a problem.

I'm sure there isn't a kid around that hasn't been to a beach or a public pool and seen some girl in a bikini bathing suit.

Quote - shows that the main focus is just selling products.

Since Renderosity is a business, that is its main focus. The community forums are only here to entice and keep people around so that we will shop in their MP. As for the gallery, the purpose behind that is to provide advertising for the MP items. People look at the gallery, see something they like and go and buy it from the MP.  That's why in the gallery you can only provide  links to items that are for sale in this MP and not  on other sites.

Granted, but it could project a classier image by not having women in bikinis showcased on the front page. Sorry, but "Natural Gravity Morphs for V4" don't leave the greatest first impression, no offense. If they had to be there, I would say make a visitor scroll down a bit before seeing them. First impressions are important, even for a site who's marketplace is it's bread and butter. Just my opinion.

... if this is a artist community first and MP later - its the artists that lead the buyers to the MP as well.... i was comfortable just having IE sit on the front page - now i'm totally rethinking it, which is a shame because i love the color theme so much.....

I mean to offend no one with my statement and hope that no one would take it as such.. BUT

To single out vendors who have bikini clad women in thier thumbs and say well people should have to scroll to see those is well.. just wrong IMHO.. Posermatic earned his/her spot on the front page and the whats hot list and would not be there if there were not MANY people buying such items.  Bikinis??  I mean come on now.. I am sure that some would view the marketplace as more professional if there were no bikini clad woman but I am sure just as many people would not bother to click on a product because there was no bikini on it..LOL  Sex and any overt reference to it sells.. sad but true.

Thats like saying that as a professional store, J.C Penny's, Macy's and every major clothing store out there should not show any bikini clad women much less women wearing undergarments in thier catalogs or flyers because someone child may see it or they might be seen as unprofessional

RM - i'm not saying they shouldnt be on the MP front page - im talking about the site front page...
but as i said, those were my thoughts...

rebelmommy ( ) posted Wed, 18 July 2007 at 6:32 PM

Ohhhh Ok I see what your saying now..LOL Since I rarely visit the site front page..(always the MP front page) I tend to think of "front Page" as the MP front page..

To each thier own I suppose.. bikini clad girls dont bother me BUT I would be curious about what the general public/consumer who comes here via the front page thinks about it
