Hi there , before ya do anything drastic , have a look in the admin logs for applications and system.
Assuming you are on win xp its at

start > control panel > administrative tools > event viewer > application

hopefully that caught the error that stopped Poser from starting.

You can copy and paste from that display but use ctl_c copy ctl_v paste
