Beauty has been connected with vanity. It's also considered desirable. A diamond or a ruby is desirable. What younge woman doesn't want to be attractive and desirable? Vanity is connected with something that is worthless to pursue. Something hollow and empty. If the pursuit of beauty over rides all other facets of life like being kind and honest which are other things that make us whole and complete, then it's a case of vanity. There is a difference between wanting to be desirable (being something of high value and attractive) as compared to just being vain and conceited. If you considered yourself to be a beautiful person and you were on a sinking ship. Would that give you the right to be in line ahead of the ugly people trying get into the life boats? You might get offered the special treatment. Are you the kind of person that would wait your turn anyways because you were concerned for their safety? Thats more important.
