Upgrading Vue may be the real answer for you (and a lot cheaper than a whole new system). I'm running v.3.1 at 200 mhz with 64 mb RAM. I've imported Michael with props and clothing okay, and most of my scenes are well over 100,000 polygons. What brought my system to a crawl was Laurie's (lovely but huge) spring wreath model! When Laurie says she wants it bigger and better, she ain't kidding! LOL -- The wreath model is over 25 MB! I don't remember the polygon count, but as I mentioned above, v.3.1 doesn't seem troubled by high polygons the way v.2.1 was. And note: although it slowed things way down for me, it wasn't crashing outright. After bringing in the model and noticing the slowdown, I just had to leave plenty of time between changing focus or making a motion. I remember Guitta explaining her "Penguins" image being enormous in bytes. She was having to wait about ten minutes between motions! That was also with 3.1.
