Subject: Why only 1 Daz for the month?

amirapsp ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2007 at 11:41 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 7:27 AM

Hi guys,

I was wondering few things.  I have seen that for the September artist of the month, only 1 Daz artist was under the list, while the rest was Poser.

I also want to know why they don't make a choice between only Daz artists and not with other artists.

And why do we don't get much attention here, like Poser does? Even if it's free Daz has so much potential. I did the survey and asked for more Daz attention. Am I wrong to ask?

And then finally. The only nominee for the artist of the month, had her gallery removed. Why?

The DAZ|Studio area has only had a gallery for little over a year, and we also have MANY less postings per day than the Poser gallery.  They are combined due to the fact that both programs use the same figures on the whole.  DAZ|Studio is still young, and Poser's been around since the 90's.  It'll take a while to get as settled in.

Finally, we don't discuss other member's accounts.  Period.

I can understand that no other member accounts are being dicussed here.. Exclamationmark!

Would like to know if this affects 'The Artist of the month" in any way.

(Glad I'm not in your shoes right now for the options are not pretty...)

This year it's etched in stone, no reason to dwell on the past. The future is an altogether different matter though.

D|S comes as a less than 20mb installer, Poser is close to a 2gb behemoth. That comparison alone is enough to clue non users of either program that Poser has enhanced capabilities over D|S. Not trying to discredit the abilities of D|S artists but it is not a fair software matchup.

In my opinion there should be a AOM for free applications regardless of their differences.

No, it didn't.  Like I said, the userbase for Poser is much larger, and the DAZ|Studio community here is much smaller than what you see at DAZ.  Renderosity started out as Poser Forum, and grew into what it is today.
Truly, this is not anyone looking down at this program.  It took me months to get us a gallery after the public (not PC Member only) beta started.  We used to have to post in the Poser Gallery.  Plus, as a mod in both forums, there is a HUGE difference in the amount of postings.  It takes me at least 3 hours to go through a whole day's worth of images in the Poser Gallery.  It takes roughly 30 minutes to go through a day's worth of images in the D|S gallery.
It's simply numbers right now.  We're growing.  That we're even included in the Artist of the Month is a huge step!  :)  It took over a year from D|S 1.0 being released to the MP here to even include D|S products in the store!
But, here we are.  We're growing.  And we're growing well.  I forsee many good things for this forum and gallery in the future, and I see that in the questions asked, the freebies thoughtfully given, the wonderful artwork in the gallery, and even the products in the store with more and more D|S compatibility.  And, if you read around, there's a LOT less "D|S sux because it's free!!" going around .

Glad to hear that JenX. :o)

Yeah, I use the others too but always return to Daz,lol. It's added some really neat features with the new version. The gap between daz and poser is getting smaller I'd say.

I think what puzzles me the most is how easy it is to make mat file, poses ....ect with daz and how few merchants do that.

Hello, just my two cents thrown in, lol.. since the only DazStudio artist is no longer a choice, with there be another DazStudio artist picked to fill his/her place? Or will it be left as it stands for this month?
Yep I'm a DazStudio user (still to new at it to be called an artist, lol) I dont use Poser, but the art I see in the DazStudio Gallery is fantastic, surely you can find another to fill the empty spot?? purty please

Unfortunately, the voting is already in, and the chosen Artist of the Month was in the lead even before the only DAZ|Studio artist chosen removed her gallery.
Also, some of the chosen artists that were listed use both applications interchangeably ;)

I tried Poser because I saw someone using it to create Paint Shop Pro picture tubes .
It was a resource hog but it got me hooked on 3D art so in my searches I found Daz Studio.
I loved it immediately. I found it easy to start learning and it allowed me to concentrate on composing art instead of constantly crashing. :D
I push it as far as I can and thats pretty far sometimes.  Some of my compostitions have as many as 20-25 "props"  in a scene. I love doing scenes as opposed to a single subject.
I'm still learning and not all that good..but Daz allows me to do it without worrying about the cost or using all my resources or freezing my pc.
I recently started learning Bryce and love it too.
Some other galleries still don't even recognize Daz Studio yet. :(

I got a couple of friends to try 3D CG using DAZ Studio first ( because they weren't about to spend money on Poser ).  They seem to like 3D art rendering so far, and they'll probably enjoy more DAZ Studio-related choices here and anywhere else.  I'm still more of a Poser user myself, though.
