"to make the spotlight small enough to put behind the window"...if I read you correctly, you are trying to size down the spotlight "icon". Not to worry about it, just put it anywhere...and if I'm wrong and you intend to create a small spot light 'beam' just size down the "spread" and power value. Note that "Directional" and "Point" light all have different purpose. Example..."Directional" is somewhat like another sun.
