Absolutely right, and here's how, just in case you need to know...
Image Map 2 is just there to show how the texture comes in by default.
The connected image map has had its U- and V- scales set to 0.25 (1/4) thus fitting four images in the space of one. The result doesn't show up in the Preview, but does in the render (image at left).
Make sure that the "image Map" entry in the dialogue is set to "Tile" (It's the default, so it usually will be..)
This can sometimes also work for UV-mapped fabric textures but that can be prone to distortion - it depends on the mapping. However, for anything that is more-or-less square, it's usually good enough and saves mucking about with separate bitmaps...
