Do you also happen to have a tablet?
I know that if a tablets mouse is sitting on the tablet while you are trying to use another mouse...it'll make the pointer go all over the place.
If you do have a tablet(and tablet mouse) move the mouse completely off the tablet.(Or even throw it in a drawer...lol)
If you have no tablet(or other pointing device)...go to the manufacturers website and see if there is an upgrade to the driver for your mouse.
A couple more possibilities...many times the mouse driver will have an "acceleration" option..(Logitech especially)Turn that OFF.
They may also have an option in the driver to automatically move the pointer to a specific location when a dialog is presented (Like "OK",,or"Next")..Turn that off too.
Who knows why these settings get changed inadvertently...many times a recent Windows Update is the culprit.
Best of luck
