Hi Marque,
Out of curiosity...are you using an e-mail address provided to you by your ISP?...or do you have your own domain..and are changing the e-mails that way?
The reason I ask, is because...most domains have a "Catch-All" Feature (If you wanna call it that...lol) which used to be enabled by default IIRC(I don't think most hosting companies enable Catch-all by default anymore).
I'm sure you know about that but for those who may not...a "Catch-all" is for if someone mis-spelled your e-mail address...it would still find it's way to the recipient.
For example...my e-mail address is XXXX@hawkfyr.com but if someone inadvertently typed in XXXZ@hawkfyr.com... it would still find me via the "Catch-all"...I've since turned it off (Years ago)...but all the spammer has to know is the domain name (hawkfyr.com)...and they could deploy anything@hawkfyr.com and the catch-all would still find it's way to me.
And as Caly so eloquently put it**..."as soon as an address is "harvested," it gets put out there on a list shared by spammers. once it's harvested, it's compromised."**
If this is not your case...and you are using an ISP provided e-mail address...and started getting spam immediately...I'd be calling them up as well. (Also...there has been a lot of ISP's being purchased, but the old e-mail address will still work.
For example: If Time Warner bought Adelphi...the Adelphi address will still be re-directed and find it's way to the old Adelphi customer...Now lets say Roadrunner Bought Time Warner...now all 3 address will find both those whom have 1)Adelphi.net domains, as well as those who came on-board when 2)Time Warner owned the ISP, as well as 3) the Roadrunner domain as well.
When you changed your e-mail...did you go with an entirely new host and/or provider with a different domain name?...or did you just change the beginning of said e-mail address...but the domain remained the same?
I'm a bit un-clear as to what you meant when you said "I changed my email and mentioned it in the poser forum"...do you mean that you just mentioned that you had changed your E-Mail address?...or did you "mention"(as in post said e-mail address) in the Poser forum?
Also..is this e-mail used for other e-mail correspondence other than Renderosity..or is it dedicated to just Renderosity?
One more thing...Do you send AND receive e-mail through this new account...or do you only receive messages through it..and reply via another account?
As far as I know...this is the first I've seen of someone switching providers, and started getting spam...so the answers to these questions could be very helpful to weed out other possibilities of how/why this is happening.
Thanks
