I totally agree with your desire for a way to create "sensible" zip files.
I cravenly decide not to offer to do tutorial - I'm still at the "Whoops! That was wrong" stage of advancment, myself.
If I have time (tomorrow) I might well suggest things that should NOT be done (although by then I expect all the points I might cover will have been covered by the more serious folks around here).

Good call on missing "How to"!
