You may be able to get a refund on some of the items you bought, contact the admins in the MP and Im sure they can help you. :)
Quote - You get certain things on the market although some says it does not work on a Mac you buy it, maybe because you expect it to work, because OSX and all Mac have change and both systems has more in common... and the great thing is that some does works wonderfully, but every now and then, there's others that won't work on your Mac... WHY?
Just out of curiosity, why would you buy an item that specifically states "Will not work on a Mac" if you are using a Mac?
I don't know of any converters for OSX, but hopefully someone who is familiar with a Mac will come in shortly and can help you.
Thanks!

Chances are you have either a Mac or a PC - not both, because it's damn expensive to keep up with all that hardware and software. So your typical vendor selling you a $10 item - they have what they have. ^_^
Hi guys!
Jani: Why we buy it?, because IT WORKS.... works perfectly.... see guys MOST of them works just fine.... BUT there are some that simply DON'T... and we have no idea which, it's a lottery!
Well as you said i still can ask for a refund... but what about my product? i had the illusion to have it and have fun with it... it's just not fair!... but yeah, you're right guys i guess as PJZ99 said it's too expensive!.......
Well it's a sad, sad situation......
Thanks guys .... thank you so much

Specifically what is not working? Could you please give clear details, there may be a solution.
By the way I've a freebie zip instaler especially made for Mac users to ease the pain of extracting a zip into your Poser installation.
Hi Phil: Thank you so much for you atention and the Zip installer i will download it right away!.
You ask me specifically what's does not work. Ok. i'll tell you, maybe you can help me.
Poses .pz2 archives, Characters INJ/REM, their MAT's and props. Poses that simply do not appear on my library, and are there, i am 15 years Mac user, and i install every Poser content by hand, one by one, even the one from Daz. Props that their MATs' don't apply or render...and characters with INJ/REM features.
The only thing i use is the RSR ConverterMac it helps me to create the thumb for the library and get rid of the .rsr but even this Converter NOT always work

Hi Jerr!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for yur help!!.... i downloaded the XShruggy

The other RSR COnverterMac creates .png FROM .pz2 and .rsr files only that every now and then doesn't work specially on Aiko3 files.
Thank you for your time!

I am a Vendor to be ....
I specialy bought a Mac mini to make things compatible and make Mac versions of what i create.
At DAZ i think and heard of that "DAZ company" converts the items to MAC versions...
Here and at a lot of other places "we" have to do that ourself...
So now i first have to learn how a mac works before i can make things Mac specific...
And im not pointing at or dissing any one but good help is difficult to find.
But personaly i think is not easy to make things compatible without having a MAC.
i dropped P4 P5 support to have time for DS and MAC support.
But your right when its not tested on a Mac dont put it in the "works with list"

Hi Chris!
Thanks for your time! It's so cool to know you're doing that. I can only imagine all the work!!
I do really, really apreciate your effort and ANY help you may need, is there's anything i could do to help you just drop me a line
What i was wondering is: why some products works and other don't? despite their creator says is PC only... i took the risk with MANY and works great! i just converted the .rsr to .png and deleted .rsr... done, perfect!........others simply don't even appear on my library!
Thanks again!

Intel Mac from G5, content I have several hundred content items purchased and tons of freebees. I have had just one issue with one content product, but the artist stated ahead of time on the sale page the the file path might be too long for Mac's. No biggie to do a mass search and replace and shorten the file name reference. Otherwise not one issue with anything content wise. Python scripts and tinker, different issue. 3 party tools are mostly written for windows. With the .rsr converters the extra step is a matter of seconds and that is for older content. Daz does sell a few items where the thumbs have an alpha channel and graphics converter can remove the alpha channel in batch process. Other then 3rd party tools, I am lost as to what the problem is. I have purchased many many conent items that are marked PC only and used them on my mac with no problem.

Also there are some very helpful people in the Macintosh Forum here who use Poser. They have helped me out a few times. Try that too. Vendors who state "PC only" have to say that if they just don't know and had no Mac testers. The 2 I approached in the past couldn't help and just reminded me that their product was not sold as 'mac compatible'. They weren't unpleasant.... they just knew nothing about Macs and as grichter said the problem can be a simple naming issue - too long or having a '_' or a '/' in there ( which is what I found on two occasions ) that a mac takes issue with. Easily fixed but sometimes hard to find the why of a problem . I render my own png.s for any that might be missing. ( 91x91 ) I also buy what I like regardless and as you have found most content works just fine. As do many python scripts. But if a utility program like Universal Texture Converter says PC only then I take their word for it ! LOL and I am one of the ones still living in a cave.... I keep Classic on my otherwise OSX system only so I can still use Mac Converter........ Old habits die hard !

Hi Gini!... ok you're offcially my IDOL! lol. Why? because you still keep the classic!
Anyway thank you so much for your help!. See one of my problems is the lack os Classic, even some Daz products are compressed for the old, old Stuff it! TOO!!!!..... so i have to do magic tracing someone who still owns a Mac with classic here where i live!
I don't take a risk with products that state PC only, like Texture Converter ... but only with characters and clothing textures.
thanks so much for your help!

in case of missing rsr files, thumbnailer X may work. it may be necessary to ask mac users about files that don't work in OS X, as the vendors may have no way of testing on a mac. two instances are most common: 1. bad reference file paths (to textures or geometry files) 2. exe files I dunno if vendors are still doing this, but in the old days, it was common to see file paths referring to their C drives.

ajmarti,I'm a Mac user and I buy content all the time, totally ignoring if it's Mac or PC (unless it's an application or python script that's Windows only). Everything will work on the Mac, but sometimes you have to use MacConverter.
All DAZ items will install correctly. It's a no-brainer. But if there is a problem, report it to DAZ and they will fix it.
For everyone else, you will need to run MacConverter. Yes, it is OS9. Dig out your Operating System install disks. Select the OS9 CD. Install on your machine. Then go to SoftRabbit and download MacConverter:
http://www.soft-rabbit.com/
Run Classic (OS9) with MacConverter.
Wala! Usable Poser Content!
p.s. Sometimes Merchants do make mistakes, like the MAT files, INJ, or CR2 that point to the wrong place or use "/" instead of ":" Most of your good Merchants don't make those mistakes. These issues are easily fixed in BBedit. Use the "Find and Replace" to change "/" to ":" WaLa Fixed. Wrong pointers will need to be edited by hand.
Example:
WRONG:
My Computer/Program Files/Poser 6/Runtime/Geometries/MyMesh.obj
RIGHT:
Runtime:Geometries:MyMesh.obj

Could you perhaps do an install of an older OS along side of 9 on an external hard drive and install Mac converter there and just move the converted files back to your main HD ? I don't have an IntelMac yet ( still on a powerBook G4 ) but would try that myself when I do. Infact I did use to have PoserPro Pack installed on an external drive in whatever the last system that version worked in (OS 10.2 ??) because I disliked Posers 5 and 6 but was running newer OS that wouldn't run ProPack. I usually have 2 large external drives that I keep system back ups and extra things on for my family but I realise not everyone uses those. I still have my Installer Cds of OS 10.1 . and OS9 Classic ( from an iBookG3 that died a couple of years ago.) Would that help you to have if you think this scenario of running from an external drive is an idea ?

And i think you're right! ... and a great idea!
why i did not think of that?.... ummm.... after all i do have 2 external!
I will do that right now... !
I insist.. you're my idol!

Perhaps a big part of the problem is that with PC's being so prevalent, lot of the vendors probably work with PC's and aren't as familiar with Mac requirements and needs.
I for one often contemplate eventually selling some of the models I make, and wouldn't have a clue where to even begin making something mac-compatible, and don't know anyone with the mac knowledge well enough to pester them so I can learn. Not to mention the additional effort and patience it may take.
I suspect something similar to this may often be the case. Sowwy :(
Also, this kind of a situation in places other then Poser world is something that often turns me off from considering buying a mac.

Hi ajmarti
I guess that I am one of the lucky few because I have a Hi end PC and a Power Mac G5 but you are right with some of the Poser products not working on the Mac and that is my reason for owning both platforms the sad fact is that you need both you really do.
If Rosity were to give their poorer PC merchants Apple Macs to use so that they could also make
working Mac versions of their products we would all be very happy but you have more chance of flying to the moon than expecting such benevolence here.
hi Conniekat! as always thank you so much for your help!
Well on thing i learned is that as long as it has it's .png .pz2 .cr2 any product works on a Mac!
I have dozens of product i bought at my own risk that state PC only... and works just great!
The problem is when it cannot find some of the files... but i already have a solution, email the vendor... so far so good!!!!!!!now i'm happier that last night when i posted!
Thanks again for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My problem is that in this case i have not OS9 anymore on mi iMac. So MacConverter for me is not an option
And the only problem that Daz3d seems to have is that some of their products still uses the old Stuffit..... besides that Daz products are always perfect!
Thanks for your help!

Thank you so much!... LOL.. at least i'll get to go to the moon!

A lot of problems with MAC versions have to do with where files are placed by the installers. The merchants without a Mac can't check these things.
If a list of the files and where they are supposed to be located in the runtime has been provided then double check manually that they are in those places it may well be that there are some unnecessary nested folders containing an item/s which need to be put directly into a location and the installer can't make sense of this when its unzipping to the Mac or Poser on the Mac expects a file to be located in direct place. You will probably have more success of installing manually if you have not tried this already with items that do not work.
PXP: HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!... Y-E-S!!!!!!!!
I have 35 GB Runtime and i did it manually...
But... anyway...at least there's plenty of great people here to help!
On the other hand i mailed some of the vendors and cry for help and they help me so much sending me some of the missing files
Well... back to life... Thanks PXP!

Nope, not now. Submission guidelines for Poser content state the path must start with Runtime. Anything else will be rejected. At least, in theory because I have bought a couple of items - quite recent products, too - where the path began with the vendor's name.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I have a question about the mac filenames.
what's acceptable?
I have a mac - but no mac version of poser to test my products - but I would like to keep in mind what works and what doesn't on mac systems so my products can be used fairly regardless of OS.
I know that the "/" are bad - I already don't do that, what else though ?
Hi Vexiphne!
As far as i know only try to keep your files names short. Although i have files with many characters on it, and i have no problem at all
OSX and your Windows has so much in common; now more than ever. So just try to keep your name short under 12 characters and no "/" at all!
Just in case my Poser 6 uses: .cr2 and their .png to view the thumb; .pz2 and their .png.... everything but .rsr............ only every now and then comes something that does not work at all and i still don't know what it is!
in case you need anything just drop me a line; i love to help!

Thanks! I will keep you in mind for sure. I'm fairly certain my filenames don't exceed 12 characters but i've never actually counted.
I have a converter that works on OSX intel mac, no classic. Problem is I am out of town on an old laptop and away from my main cpu until late Sunday night, so the name and source escape me at this second. I think it is forsale at RuntimeDNA. There are others that work that don't require classic. File names can be way longer the 12. The problem is the total path name not the actually file name. So if the texture is in ":runtime:Textures:my name is really long:These are my really cool textures:and there addons:" is the only problem I have ever had on one product. I just shortened the name of the folders-directories and corrected the references in the various included files and it worked like a champ. Again on the sale page it made reference to this problem and said it "might" require some editing-fixing.

Hi Grichter!!! Cool, i will look for it on RDNA anyway. And yes you're right about the names longer than 12. I guess this thing is driving me crazy, since i have so many products PC only who works great on my POSER 6!...
But thank you guys for your help! It means a lot to me!

This thread is more like comment; but this kind of thing makes me feel real bad and furious at the same time, i mean, i have no idea how this Seller/R'rosity works but as a Mac user and a client and specially with all the wonderful advances in technology and computer things going on, this should NOT be happening!
You get certain things on the market although some says it does not work on a Mac you buy it, maybe because you expect it to work, because OSX and all Mac have change and both systems has more in common... and the great thing is that some does works wonderfully, but every now and then, there's others that won't work on your Mac... WHY?..... and i have a few of them on my trash, that i am not been able to use!
Why i still see so many new products who says "Mac user should use Mac Converter?" // I mean What?.... Mac Converter is not for OSX and unless you've been living on a cave, you might find it useful on your System 9!!!
What's wrong with us Mac users? aren't we enough attractive for the Sellers to develop products with ALL the Mac archives we need? I've been using RSR File Converter for .png but does not work all the time
I might be wrong! But if someone knows of a REAL Mac Converter for this year 2007 and OSX, please will help me?!!!!!!!!!
