Balloons are happy things...amen to that. : )

We henceforth recognize Sir James the Balding as Prince of Textures.

Surely somewhere in England is a suitable castle or estate for the new Prince of Textures.

Neat little sign. Reminds me of the quaint ones you see in mens toilets in old pubs:

If you sprinkle while you tinkle,
be sweet and wipe the seat.

Urm, just a dump of some upclose bugshot i took a while back that will never make my gallery. These things were about 3 inches long and would sometimes fly into the place we were living some of them just got trapped, obviously forgetting which way they came in. This was was caught by a mad french dude who was with us at the time (mad because he walked around barefoot in shorts with no insect repellent on, and would do pretty much anything) and then he put it on my head when i wasnt looking. So i got him to hold it still so i could take a shot of it:

Great recent images everyone, some fun stuff lately. It may never make your gallery Rich, but that is one cool close-up and I'm glad you shared it with us. Maybe a relative of the cicada? I dig the colors and it looks like he's wearing tinted goggles, heheheh.

Neither, actually.  It was very deformed and somewhat slug eaten, so it went into the composter.

Some amazing shots while I was sick. LOVE the bug! Mr. Grumpy is too beautiful for words but you can skritch him under the chin for me. I'd love to spend an afternoon in the high seat writing or dreaming, or dreaming of writing. Wonderful shot of those wheels!

Btw - those footprints look really weird... it is like they are "reversed" or something... not like depressions but protusions! ;)

I got my first bug of the month for the genre challenge...a day too late.  Bugs are pretty much not flitting around here now.

The shot was not so good..so I used high key as it should not be used..to cover the shallow depth of field. Enjoy this fly.  This one is disguised as a yellow jacket wasp, but the eyes and body give it awjay...oops, give it away.

We had a class in NYC one year in college, ( It was the seventies), where we were supposed to take rubbings of these like gravestones. Seemed more like we were trying to earn gravestones. I quit and returned to MA to a much quieter exhistence. They are cool, but dangerous up close.
