This was posted a few hours ago on the yahoo groups carrara list. Philip Staiger works for TGS, the company that merged with Eovia. From: "Philip Staiger" Date: Thu May 31, 2001 1:44 pm Subject: Re: [Carrara] It's the last day of may :-( Oh Darn, I thought there were 33 days this month. We really may need it. Ok, so perhaps we decided to fix a few more minor bugs, all the more to make everyone happy with an even better product. Perhaps we're adding more content to the CD,.... Last I heard we're planning to freeze end of this week and ship product shortly thereafter (time to get CDs and boxes done and packaged...) But, alas, it's possible there were some glitches in the pipeline, or another blackout stopping something for an hour or two, or a minor or not-so-minor bug is being fixed still. It's not "how these software companies work", it's just reality. Add to that a long list of possible things that can empede on a target date or schedule, such as a hard drive crash, a computer virus, a thick fog in Memphis delaying the overnight FedEx delivery of the production CDs, someone's catching the flu or other ailments from jetlag to sleep deprivation, loosing internet connection for a day or week, delays in production of components from other sources (books, packaging, flyers...) and suddenly you get the big picture and realize that you're not in total absolute control of every single aspect of this project. (note that I don't know if any of the above mentioned things actually happened, it's just my humble view and a bit of academic exercise :-) Hang in there, if you don't hear from Antoine, it probably means he's working hard and has no time to surf the list or web until the product is completed. We don't want to give you a product just because it's the 31st. We want to give you a product because it's ready and the best it can be. And then some. back to work I go ... -Philip
