Carrara can bone/rig but it can't be used in DS or Poser. If you used Poser4 to rig, you can then use that in DS, Poser and Carrara.
Daz's Dynamic cloth plugin is a SOON thing, so who knows what year and Daz has said that the DS plug will be first then the one for Carrara, though that might have changed. The plug won't be able to use Poser cloths, which seems a bit wierd because Poser Dynamic cloth is just an .obj. Also from what Daz has said, you will have to buy the Dynamic cloth creation plug if you want to make your own.
So you can wait for whenever Daz gets around to a limited plug or upgrade to a newer version of Poser. I would suggest P6 at the least P7 if you can afford it. The cloth room is better than P5. You will have to decide for yourself which is better for you.
To Daz or not, that is the question.
I just tried out my steed's easypose tail in Carrara. I'm not laughing.

bwtr, sorry but it's not in the mind. You can model the clothing mesh in Carrara, if you like using Carrara's modeling tools, but you can not rig the clothing in Carrara and have it work in Poser or DS. You need poser to do that.
Paloth, that is wierd. Are limits turned off? Not good either way for content creators. I model most of my own stuff now, I became a Modo junkie, after the disappointment of Hex 2.2 and use poser and easypose for most of my rigging.
Have you shown this to Daz? Do they even care? I have noticed the last year that they think work arounds are fixes and blame poser for any problems first.
Are limits turned off? I hadn’t set any limits for the tail parts since it’s not likely that a user would go wrong with the easypose dials. I haven’t reported the issue to Daz because it's hard for me to go there. In any case, Mrs. Nacy’s comment leads me to believe that the missing curve parameter is a known issue

I hope they fix it soon. One would think that there would be an incentive to get this right considering the number of tailed beasties sold at Daz.

I recall seeing this addressed elsewhere but I don't recall where. Anyway, I have Poser 4 but I would prefer not to even install it unless necessary.
I want to create characters/clothing that will work in DazStudio and Carrara. As for clothing I want to make both conforming clothing and dynamic. Must I reinstall Poser 4 for the conforming clothing or (gulp) upgrade to Poser 5 in order to create dynamic clothing?
I read somewhere that Daz will eventually release a plugin/update to Carrara that will allow the usage of the dynamic cloth from Poser. If I wait for this will I be able to do what I am wanting without using Poser or should I just bite the bullet and upgrade?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Darren
