Oh no the background isn't important.
I want to get that certain lighting effect on the character, I am just wondering if its textures as well or just lighting to get that certain effect on their skin. and clothes
I don't think it's the lighting giving her that soft glow. Take the render into a 2D paint program. Pant white in certain areas, blur it, and then use layer properites such as as "soft light" and you can get that glow. Definately done in postwork.
