Yes, it is strapped around the shoulder just like European quivers with the quiver on the upper back for easy reloading (right side for right handers supposedly). Note that the pictures with the quiver/arrows/bow in a neat package show the carrying pack - probably an easier way to cart the equipment from place to place, battle to battle. It's interesting that they didn't just keep the quiver about the shoulders and do the same with the bow - but then Japanese tended to gear up and gear down a lot for battle. Equivalent European archers of the late Medieval-early Renaissance (with basic armor) were using crossbows instead.
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.
