"It is good to see ourselves as

are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
If you render only with illumination you need to use AO in this case, a natural process, or just change the material setting of the nostrils.. this is not phenomena, this is incorrect modeling of this part..

It sure does. I smile every time I see that solution. There is also a white powder prop (it helps with the pain, but doesn't help with paranoia), but it is hellishly expensive and not too easy to get... have to be careful of cops when purchasing...
Quote - LOL is that not what create just the paranoia ?
Is it a texture, is it a bumpmap? Or maybe a a a displacement map? No, a prop, a smart prop! What is it- how shall I do it? Oh no, I am sure they are after me! Wait, maybe they just want my method. Oh, no, what am I going to do? Can they see it? Is it showing? Aaaargh! (Cries) Sniff! NO, DON'T SNIFF- they'll know! I gotta quit, man...
Content Advisory! This message contains nudity
Above is my very first render "out of the box". M2 texture is King by 3Dream. I hope no one is mad about a nude in a nose thread :(
LOL! No, carry on... I never had any idea this might happen, but I am curious to see where it goes... On a serious note, though, I think that postwork is the easiest way around the photoemitive nasal cavities. BTW, what DOES cocaine smell like? Oh, yes that is an AHEM impressive render-> 4 out of 5 (V4 would have gotten a 5- or is that a 10?). Could you please redo it with Vicky IV?
Nose glow: I am a convert to bagginsbill's emphasis on zooming your shadow cams to match your rendering camera (tutorial is found at first link in Acadia's post above).
While it may be faster to just fix just the nose glow in post, the subtle, better-looking shadows you get throughout the whole render -- which are harder to fake -- make it worthwhile to learn it, live it, love it.
It can be a pain in the butt to zoom and position the cam(s); I use only one shadow, and I usually adjust it only for a final render.

Hi All
This will also probably help a lot of people... so, how can we get around the problem of the nostrils that seem to have a light inside? Is there a prop or a technique that makes Victoria X.X (and perhaps other characters too) render with shadow rather than illumination? I have noticed that even the best renders can suffer from this phenomena.
Thanks in advance,
